A list of quality-assured professional mediators should be established to help promote early intervention in workplace disputes, according to the author of the review into statutory dispute resolution procedures.

Michael Gibbons said that although the government “wishes to encourage private funding of formal mediation”, the industry needed to develop a “reliable quality assurance standard” to ensure that the service was perceived as fair by both parties.
