These terms and conditions (these Terms) govern your access to and use of the website. By accessing and using the website you agree that you have read and accept these Terms and that they shall apply to your use.

People Management Online is produced by Personnel Publications Ltd (PPL), the publishers of People Management, on behalf of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

1.Your responsibilities
By accessing or using this website you agree to be bound by all of the following terms and conditions (these Terms):
1.1 You acknowledge that the website is intended to facilitate introductions being made with regard to employment (the Service) and that following any introduction being made it shall be up to you to agree how to progress matters further.
1.2 You agree to:
(a) provide true, accurate, current and complete information when registering as a user of the Service and notify us immediately of any changes in such user information or status; and
(b) abide by all applicable national and international laws, regulations and codes (including self regulatory) and ensure content uploaded or distributed from, or stored under, your account registration does not infringe the rights of others.
1.3 You agree to be entirely responsible for, and maintain the confidentiality of, the password and account name and for all activities conducted under your account.
1.4 You agree not to impersonate another person or use a false name or a name you are unauthorised to use or create a false identity or e-mail address or try to mislead others as to the identity or origin of any communications.
1.5 You agree not to make available or upload files that contain information not owned by you without the owner's prior consent.
1.6 You agree not to damage, interfere with or disrupt access to the Service or do anything which may interrupt or impair its functionality.
1.7 You agree not to publish, post, distribute, disseminate or otherwise transmit to the website defamatory, offensive, infringing, obscene, indecent or other unlawful or objectionable material or information.
1.8 You agree not to make available, upload or distribute by any means any material or files that contain any viruses, bugs, corrupt data or any other harmful software to the website.
1.9 You agree to indemnify and hold PPL harmless from any claim or demand made by a third party due to or arising out of information or material transmitted or made available by you, or under your account to the website or arising out of your breach of these Terms.

2. Our responsibilities
2.1 PPL shall be responsible for the website and PPL (and other companies working on its behalf) shall only be required to use its reasonable endeavours to keep the website operational. While PPL will take all reasonable steps to ensure a fast and reliable service, PPL will not be held responsible for any disruption of the Service however caused, loss of or corruption of any material in transit, or loss of or corruption of material when downloaded onto any computer system. All implied warranties, representations, or undertakings are excluded to the fullest extent permissible by law.
2.2 PPL shall not be a party to any exchange of confidential information between you and the potential employer and you acknowledge that its sole obligation to you is to provide the Service.
2.3 Whilst you acknowledge that PPL does not pre-screen the information or material transmitted to the website, PPL reserves the right to immediately remove without prior notice any information or material that comes to its attention which PPL deems to be in breach of any of these Terms.
2.4 PPL makes no warranties regarding the accuracy or the completeness of the information posted or transmitted or accessed through the website. In any event PPL shall not be responsible for any loss or damage sustained by you arising out of access to, or use of, or reliance on any information posted or transmitted to or accessed through the website.
2.5 You acknowledge that due to the nature of the Internet, information submitted by you may be accessed by third parties. PPL shall not be responsible for the security of the site or for any loss and damage sustained by you as a result of such third party access.

3. User's privacy and data protection
3.1 Any personal data relating to you will only be used by us in accordance with the UK Data Protection Act 1998 and any related and subordinate legislation and in accordance with our Data Protection Notification/Registration. Such personal data will be collected, processed and used by us for the purpose of registering you online, providing the Service to you, facilitating your use of the Service, and providing you with the Jobs-alert emails Service if requested.
3.2 The website places a cookie, which is a small text file, on your machine that is used to help you access your personalised site more efficiently. We do not use cookies to track you in any other way.

4. General
4.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of England and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
4.2 PPL reserves the right to vary these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on the website. Changes in this manner shall be deemed to have been accepted if you continue to use the website for a period of two weeks from the date of posting on the site.
